Our ministry in mission is best not expressed in words but witnessing the work that we do.  As James, the Lord’s brother said, “But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.” (James 1:22)


*Christian Ministries-Active supporters both financially and through our hands of Christian Ministries of Lincoln County and Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministries

 *Each year St. Matthew’s participates in Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Box program to needy boys and girls around the world.

*Men’s Brotherhood a hardworking men’s fellowship group that raises money for the disadvantaged, including the ministry of Shepherd’s Field YMCA in Bethlehem, Israel that works with traumatized children in the war-torn Middle East, supports Campus Crusade for Christ,  supports the ministries of the church, and helps with building and renovation projects to members and those in the community in need

*Women’s Fellowship – a diverse community of the women of the congregation who work tirelessly in raising money for the poor and disadvantaged and supporting ministries of the Church through fundraising efforts such as the Annual Holiday Bazaar in November. 

*Christians in Action (CIA) a warm-hearted fellowship and service group, that actively lends a hand through various ministries of the church and in support of those in need

 *Relay for Life (Fighting and Raising Awareness of Cancer and Supporting Survivors)

*Prayer Shawl Ministry – knitting warm shawls for the sick, traumatized, and grieving

* Annual Hunger Walk-Participation and raising money in the Annual Hunger Walk in Lincolnton, NC

*Maiden Elementary Backpack Ministry – packing food monthly for hungry children in our community

*Members of LINC (Linked in New Creative Ministry) a cooperative effort of seven UCC and a non-denominational partner church that reaches out with heart and hand to the area’s working poor, the elderly, people with disabilities, and raises money through a gift and thrift shop.   We also participate in annual disaster relief project projects and mission trips.  We have sent mission teams to Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Mississippi, Nashville, Tennessee, and Eastern North Carolina.

*Good Neighbor Shop-Supports and Shares in the Ministry of the Good Neighbor Shop in Lincolnton that distributes good used clothing and personal items to those in need, and sells clothing at a discounted rate to those in the community.

*DVD Ministry to homebound and sick members

*Other Missions-We also financially support and participate in various other ministries, including the Nazareth Children’s Home, Elon Home for Children, Transformation Love, a ministry in Ethiopia,  that works with orphans and women of families with AIDS,  and we lend support and visit those in prison in our area
